Welcome to Jazz World

Jazz brings much pleasure and provides many examples, metaphors, analogies, and allegories for life under the sun. Jazz means freedom within form to improvise and harmonize with others. It is an art form, a history, and a culture. Because of this, I hope to offer some reflections on jazz, truth, and life on this blog. Join me for the jam session.

  1. As Aristotle suggests, "[If] architecture is about the good, the true, and the beautiful in our edifices and landscapes, and physics is about the good, the true, and the beautiful in nature." (Tom Morris, If Aristotle Ran General Motors), jazz is about the good, the true, the beautiful in our soundscapes and in nature.

  3. "A student will not be greater than his master." You taught me well, professor, friend, fine-purveyor-of-all-things-concerning-traditional-jazz, and dearest brother in Christ!
